Maybe I was a bit too harsh. I hadn't read the whole piece. After all, she does talk about the "myth of innovation" in Pop music without resorting to too much of an Adorno stance. In the current context, that's almost a feat.
ReplyDeleteBut the tone is still very journalistic. Nothing wrong with that. Yet a more open approach than Powers's could encourage discussion about innovation and its relevance for music.
